Classic Male versus Female (Mis-) Comminucation
Background info:
- We go to FHE at Stevie's parent's house basically every Monday.
- We are avid fans of Lie to Me, which airs on Monday's at 8:00pm
- Sunday night I got next to no sleep, had to get up early to take Stevie to work, and could barely keep my eyes open the entire day.
The story:
Last night at FHE I told Stevie that I wanted to BE home BY 8:00pm. He said it wasn't possible; I said if we prepared it was. We got home at like 8:03pm. (I say it was a success.) I head upstairs to start getting ready for bed. Stevie starts setting up the TV (funny story! and yes, I do mean set up the TV. We can't just turn it on and watch it). He sends Chaz up to tell me to come down - which Chaz delivered as "Mom! Get downstairs NOW!" I wasn't exactly appropriate for going outside (um, yeah, that's part of setting up the TV - we have to set it up outside.) so I just continued to get ready for bed. Stevie finally heads upstairs and says something along the lines of 'bebe! what are you doing - besides missing the beginning of Lie to Me?!'
Then we had a conversation that went something like this:
Stevie: You said you wanted to watch Lie to Me.
Me: No, I said I wanted to be home by 8:00pm. I never said that I wanted to watch Lie to Me.
Stevie: Well, I thought you wanted to watch Lie to Me and that's why you wanted to be home by 8:00pm.
Me: Sorry.
Stevie: You just want to go to bed?
Me: Yup. I'm really tired.
I couldn't help but crack up. I'm sure it didn't show b/c me being tired is like me being botoxed - no emotion truly comes out. But, something about that really tickled my funny bone. It was such a typical male vs. female thinking. I feel so bad b/c he went to all that trouble to set up the TV for me only to find out that's not what I wanted. I really hope I held myself back from saying that's what you get when you assume. From what I remember I called out apologies for not clarifying as he sulked his way back down the stairs. :)

"Who's gotta car? Ghost bustahs!"
I am so thankful for children's interpretations of what they hear. They can be soo funny! We are big fans of X Factor (the UK talent show). Chaz and Bright know who all of the contestants are this season, including John & Edward. They don't necessarily know them by name, but they have nicknames for each of them.
This season there is this absolute car wreck of a duo that somehow has made it into the competition. They are such a joke, it's ridiculous, and their coach is exploiting every second of it. Most of the time we skip their clip, but the boys were bugging us to watch it. There's only one reason I'm glad we did: because Brighton singing his version of the song is hilarious! Here's the horrendous performance (calling it that is such a stretch - every time they sing I picture them as the rich kids in school that got their parents to hire professional background singers and dancers to support their delusion of being talented and trying to prove it in the talent show. I digress...)

Now that you are as flabbergasted and speechless as I am, lets focus on what's cute here. Brighton refuses to believe that the song says, "Who you gonna call? Ghost Busters." Instead he sings over and over and over "who's gotta cah, ghost bustahs." "Who's gotta cah, ghost bustahs." I wish I could get all of his singing - especially this one - on video. It cracks me up soo much!
Some of my other current favorites are:
* wash mouth (mouthwash according to Bright)
* under arrested (chaz)
* pop mamen or pop tamen (top ramen)
* the classic 'aminal'
* semmininin and sugar
*chuck-a-da-cheese
* moofie feahter (movie theater)
* grill (girl)
* ether afther (ever after) - http://carlsonclones.shutterfly.com/videos/3
Kids messing up words and phrases can be the best. What fun is it talking with someone who gets all their words right? Boring! Listening to little kids try and figure out words and phrases and sentences - priceless!

Here It Goes Again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv5zWaTEVkI
This song got stuck in head as soon as I got the news from Stevie. I'm glad I looked up the video b/c the comic relief was a little needed. Something funny always helps take your mood up a notch!
I wish Stevie was writing this because he was the one who stayed up with Bright last night and was the one to take him to the doctor this morning. I'll do my best to recount Stevie's story.
Last night, Chaz came in and woke Stevie up telling him that Bright was crying. (I didn't hear what Chaz was saying but I could hear Bright crying. I thought it was a little odd, but when you're asleep odd doesn't fully register.) Stevie went in and asked Bright what was wrong. Bright said, "I'm too little to tell you." Stevie just laid down with him until he fell back asleep and then came back to bed. About 30 minutes later Chaz comes in again to get Stevie because Bright was crying again. Stevie went in and tried talking to Bright again about what was wrong. Stevie said that Bright just looked horrible, so he took him to the bathroom where Bright puked.
FYI - puking was always the first sign, and frequently the only sign, of an ear infection. So, Stevie asked Bright if his ears were hurting. Bright said that his ears were "singing". Besides that being absolutely adorable and incredibly sad, it was also confirmation of an ear infection. Stevie let Bright bring his pillow and blanket into our room to sleep on the floor next to Stevie. I guess Bright wanted to hold Stevie's hand all night, so Stevie didn't get too much sleep.
When I woke up I noticed that both the boys were sleeping on the floor in our room. Stevie let me know that he thought Bright had an ear infection. He went and called the pediatrician to get in for an emergency appointment and the boys and I got dressed. The plan was for me to take Chaz to church with me while Stevie took Bright to the doctor. But, as soon as Chaz learned that Bright and Dad were getting out of church he did everything he could to go with them. (Apparently, class is too long!) So, I ended up going to church on my own while Stevie took both boys to the doctor.
I was bad and took my phone (on silent) into church with me and waited to hear from Stevie. He finally sent me a message near the end of Sunday School letting me know that Bright has a full blown ear infection in the left ear, one beginning in the right ear, and dun-da-dun... bronchitis. Again.
If you were looking at Brighton right now you wouldn't have a clue that any of this is going on with him. He has a runny nose again, which just started a couple days ago. He has been stuffed up, but so have I with sinuses, so I thought his sinuses were just bothering him, too. Otherwise, he's still running around and being his typical self. This morning he has been touching his ears - but that was a first today.
Part of me is just disappointed. The whole adenoid surgery was supposed to make all of this go away. Soo many moms said that after the surgery their kids never had a problem again. Does Bright really have it THIS bad or are we just not taking good enough care of him? I can't help but be a little frustrated. Now, I'm just wondering if ear infections are going to keep coming. I'm guessing he's going to need another set of tubes put in, in the least. (I just re-read my post about Bright's surgery & confirmed that it was his left tube that was taken out.) I wonder how much is still ahead.
At least he isn't acting like he's miserable. At least he never seems bothered by all of this and is great at taking his medicine. He's a good kid in that way.

LMAO!
Um, somehow I found this when I was trying to find a decent countdown widget... (it came up in the search b/c of her Taylor Lautner countdown) and seriously, my side hurts now.
I did not watch any of the videos b/c some of the pictures and what she says are pretty explicit on their own, so I was afraid to see anything worse. Overall, this site was really cracking me up. I sort-of see it as the Seriously, So Blessed version of Twilight blogs. (Except I'm not so sure she's joking...)
